Mission: H.O.P.E. – The Prosperity Club

Last week I revealed that I had made a conscious decision to reject the prevailing negativity of these times and focus instead on positive thoughts about wealth, money, and prosperity. Using the affirmation “Prosperity is mine in 2009,” let us channel our energies into creating solutions instead of complaining about our problems; and expecting opportunities instead of experiencing fear.

For the rest of this month, Your Money will expose people and organizations that are helping others to rise above their limitations to succeed and prosper. Our theme will be:   Mission:   H.O.P.E. – Helping Others to Prosper and Excel.

I regularly give presentations to companies and organizations to educate their team members about financial success principles. When I speak to many young people they seem to be overwhelmed by the negative occurrences in Jamaica, and appear to have given up hope that it is possible for them to have a brighter future.

It therefore came as a pleasant and unexpected surprise when I met an extraordinarily motivated group of students at the Spanish Town Vocational Training Centre, run under the auspices of the Social Development Commission. After my presentation about creating extra income, several of them came to me with exciting ideas about what they were planning to do to earn more money.

I asked Ansell White, senior instructor at the centre, why his students were so inspired and self-directed. White revealed that he has been training them to think prosperity thoughts instead of focusing on their poverty, and this process has been reaping tremendous results in their lives.

Prosperity thinking works

White declared that over the years, he has purposely attacked the ‘nutten nah gwaan’ attitude that prevails, by speaking into their minds positive thoughts about wealth. “When they express concerns about money,” White explained, “I tell them to change their pattern of thinking by voicing aloud a positive affirmation.” An affirmation is a spoken and/or written declaration that asserts your desires as reality.

“You have to be very careful with your words,” White continued. “When you say that nothing positive is happening for you, then you are actually cementing your poverty status.” Some of the declarations that he encourages his students to use include, “My highest good is manifesting in my life right now,” God’s wealth flows to me in avalanches of abundance; all my needs, desires and goals are met instantaneously,” and “I am grateful for the best in life which comes to me right now.”

White disclosed that both scientific and spiritual logic maintain that there is only abundance in the universe, as it is unlimited in its resources. However, man’s mind can create the illusion of poverty; and whatever the mind believes, this becomes the reality. He discounted the current negative economic forecasts as merely pronouncements from man’s material mind which can be incorrect.

“There are two ways of looking at life,” White insisted. “You can be in a poverty-conscious mode or in a wealth-conscious reality.” He confidently asserted that “the money you need is already out there, you just need to state a claim to it. You must call forth what you desire and it will materialize.”

White explained that affirmations alone won’t change your reality if your mind is negatively programmed, as it takes time to adjust your mindset. “It is constant reinforcement of positive thoughts that can produce change,” he pointed out.

The Prosperity Club is born

This reality led White to form the Prosperity Club in October 2008, which delivers daily doses of positiveness. Every morning, the students share testimonials which help to reinforce their prosperity consciousness. Each member has a paper card drawn on the ‘Universal Bank Unlimited’ that acts as a symbol of their faith in God and the universe to provide abundantly. He even created a ‘Prosperity Song’ that they sing to the tune of ‘Glory, Glory Hallelujah.’

But is this all motivational mumbo-jumbo, or does White have hard facts to back up his assertions? He certainly does, as he revealed many incredible stories of the magic of prosperity thinking.

White gave an account of a student who materialized the money she needed in an outstanding way. One morning she was sweeping up her yard and lamenting that she didn’t have the money to pay for transportation to school. She remembered White’s teachings and said “my highest good comes to me now and I am most grateful.” Shortly after saying the affirmation, she looked down in the pile of leaves she was sweeping and discovered a $1,000 note in the rubbish.

His students are now evangelizing prosperity thinking and impacting their communities. I spoke to Lorna Eccleston who told me how she helped a store owner to manifest profit. “He was complaining that he hadn’t sold a handbag in a long time,” she said. “I gave him a declaration and told him to affirm the best and give thanks in advance for his blessings.” The next day the shopkeeper excitedly called her to say that he sold several handbags after she left.

White said that he wanted his students to create a positive financial outlook by developing a consciousness of prosperity. “Prosperity for all already exists”, he confirmed, “we just need to become aware of it by affirming it daily, thereby allowing it to manifest in our lives.”

Remember to repeat this affirmation daily- “Prosperity is mine in 2009.”
