Knock Until Doors Are Opened

“For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened” – Matthew 7:8

Recently, in a crowded supermarket checkout lane, I viewed the trolley in front of me with dismay. It was loaded with groceries for someone’s month-end shopping trip. I didn’t look forward to being stuck for a long time in the supermarket; I was tired and ready to go home.

Although I had more than a handful of items in my own cart, I decided that I had nothing to lose by politely asking the lady in front if she would allow me to cash my goods ahead of her. I don’t normally like to inconvenience someone else who might be in a hurry to leave as well, but it was worth a try.

Happily, the lady was quite gracious in giving me her space. She even offered another person who was behind me the opportunity to exit faster as well. As I gratefully completed my transaction, I thought how often we miss opportunities to get ahead in life, simply because we fail to ask for what we need. Money Musings: The Power of Teamwork

The FIFA 2014 World Cup is in full swing and millions of people across the world are being entertained by the excellent football matches being played. I enjoy watching competitive sport, and have been fascinated by the dominance of smaller football nations over their more established counterparts.

Let’s look at some of the possible members who might comprise your personal finance team. Continue reading Money Musings: The Power of Teamwork

Make Time to Make Money

“I want to start an investment plan for my retirement, but the problem is that I really can’t find the time to concentrate on making money. My job takes me all around the island and I have very little opportunity to focus on my own affairs. Can you advise me how to start an investment plan with the least amount of time and effort on my part?”

“I don’t have the time to learn how to make money!” If I had received one hundred dollars for every time I heard clients complain that they can’t find the time to plan how to save and invest their money, I would have discovered a fast-track method for becoming rich.

With only 24 hours in any day, the reality is that time is limited. However, the perceived lack of time to do any endeavour is really a factor of where your priorities are placed. What you achieve in life is determined by what you desire to find the time to do.

How many times have we complained of an inability to find time to an undesirable chore like housework, but as soon as some exciting event comes around, we have all the time in the world to attend? Continue reading Make Time to Make Money
